The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos State Area Unit trained over 3000 Muslim students across the state in a week long 115th April Islamic Vacation Course (IVC), focused on Islamic education, moral values, and personal development.
The annual camping program, organized from April 17 to 21, was held simultaneously across seven zones in Lagos—Agege, Apapa, Epe, Mainland, Ikorodu, Ojo, and Mushin. This year’s theme, “The Sufficient Antidote,” explored the role of Islam in addressing contemporary challenges and fostering holistic growth.
This year’s April IVC was well-attended by members of the organisation across the MSSN zones in Lagos State, with a balanced gender representation of students participating in lectures, workshops, prayers, and recreational activities.
In a show of solidarity with the people of Gaza, students at the various camp locations condemned the genocide in Palestine, calling for an immediate ceasefire. The students carried placards with messages such as “Free Palestine,” “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Must Be Free,” and “Boycott Israel.”
Speaking on the camp, the Amir of MSSN Lagos, Mallam Kamoldeen Abiona, highlighted the Society’s enduring role in nurturing leadership, promoting moral excellence, and fostering national development.
“For over seventy years, MSSN has been a beacon of unity, knowledge, and moral excellence, producing leaders who champion Islamic values and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the nation,” he said.
Reflecting on the theme of the 2025 April IVC, Mallam Abiona noted that Islam remains a comprehensive solution to many of the world’s social and moral crises.
“In a world plagued by moral decay and identity crises, Islam offers a holistic antidote. This camp is designed to foster spiritual growth, intellectual development, and strong moral character among our students.
“The MSSN April IVC continues to serve as a cornerstone for Islamic learning and youth engagement, empowering students to navigate life’s challenges with faith, knowledge, and discipline.” Abiona stated.
The program featured Quranic recitation, Tafsir sessions, leadership training, seminars on Islamic jurisprudence and history, as well as sports and talent exhibitions ensuring a well-rounded experience for attendees.
The chairman of the 2025 April IVC, Sodiq Abdulganiu, praised the commitment of the camp officials and commended the grassroots mobilization efforts across the participating zones.
“This camp tested the organizational capacity of each area council and reinforced the need for young Muslims to take ownership of their identity and future,” Abdulganiu said.
“The coordinated efforts and selfless dedication of our young officials demonstrate that there is indeed hope for the Muslim community.”
