Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun CON, FCA, has received the news of the passing of the member of the House of Representatives, representing the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, with great shock and sadness.
Hon. Onanuga died on Wednesday after a brief illness. She was aged 59.
Senator Amosun described the death of Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga as a loss of an illustrious indigene of Remoland, Ogun State, a vibrant lawmaker, and a committed grassroots politician who made impactful contributions to the development of Remoland and Ogun State.
“It saddens my heart that Ijaya, as she was fondly called, would succumb to death at a time when her expertise, experience, and service are still needed at her constituency, Ogun State and the National Assembly.
“A two-term lawmaker, and deputy chief whip of the 10th House of Representatives, Ijaya demonstrated passion and performance in her legislative functions.
While commiserating with the entire Onanuga family, the people of Remoland and Ogun State, the APC family, and her colleagues at the House of Representatives, Amosun enjoins them to take solace in the fact that Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga lived an eventful life and left behind enduring legacies.
The former Governor prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant her Aljannah Firdaous and give everyone the fortitude to bear her irreparable loss.
