The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) deeply mourns the passing of Mallam Kabiru Dangogo, a distinguished public relations icon, corporate communications expert, and mentor whose impact on the PR industry in Nigeria and beyond remains unparalleled.

Mallam Dangogo, who passed away at the age of 76, was a highly accomplished professional with an illustrious career spanning over three decades in journalism, academia, and corporate communications. A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and a recipient of the NIPR President’s Award for Excellence in Public Relations, he played a pivotal role in advancing the profession and mentoring future generations of PR practitioners.

As a founding President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB) and a former Chairman of the Nigerian Chapter of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), Mallam Dangogo contributed significantly to strengthening corporate communications in Nigeria. His leadership extended to the international stage, where he served as Secretary-General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA) from 2002 to 2006.

Beyond his national and international influence, Mallam Dangogo was a dedicated contributor to the Lagos Chapter of NIPR. He provided strategic counsel, facilitated professional development programs, and was an advocate for the continuous improvement of public relations practice in Lagos and Nigeria at large. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the Lagos NIPR Award for Excellence in Public Relations in 2005.

Speaking on his passing, Comfort Obot Nwankwo, Chairman of the Lagos NIPR, expressed profound sorrow: “Mallam Kabiru Dangogo was not just a PR guru; he was a mentor, a thought leader, and a dedicated advocate for ethical public relations practice. His contributions to the Lagos NIPR Chapter and the broader PR community in Nigeria are immeasurable. His guidance and wisdom will be sorely missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire PR community.”

The Lagos State Chapter of NIPR urges members to honor Mallam Kabiru Dangogo’s legacy by upholding the values of professionalism, excellence, and ethical PR practice that he passionately championed.
