The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, linked to the alleged killing of a graduate of the Lagos State University, Adedamola Ogunbode, has been arrested by policemen in the Alakuko area of Lagos State.
As gathered, policemen detailed to investigate the case involving the disappearance of Ogunbode, which was upgraded to a case of suspected murder, had been tracking Ajisomo after the investigation linked him to the clearing of the victim’s bank account.
The suspect, who went into hiding after the crime was perpetrated, was said to have cleared the bank account using the victim’s mobile phone.
Contacted on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development during a request for an update regarding the ongoing investigation.
He said, “Yes, it is true. He (Olaoluwa Ajisomo) was arrested yesterday (Monday). He is the principal suspect in the case of the suspected murder of the missing LASU graduate. He cleared the victim’s bank account.”
Meanwhile, Hundeyin, while addressing journalists at the police command headquarters on Monday, said a church had been sealed over the alleged killing of Ogunbode to prevent it from being attacked and set on fire by yet-to-be-identified persons in the state.
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we don’t want that to happen.
“It is still a suspected crime scene. We still need to go over it, and we may need to revisit the scene multiple times to gather evidence,” he said.
Hundeyin also noted that investigation into the case was ongoing, adding that further updates would be communicated.
Following Ajisomo’s arrest, the total number of arrested suspects linked to the missing graduate’s case is now four.
