Chief Daniel Ologbon, Convener of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition group in Ojo Local Government, has congratulated Hon. Rahman Owokoniran on his recent appointment as Chairman of the ADC in the South-West geopolitical zone.
In a statement issued yesterday, Chief Ologbon described Owokoniran as a seasoned politician with decades of experience, noting that his leadership will be pivotal to strengthening and expanding the party’s presence across the South-West.
According to Chief Ologbon, no member of the ADC coalition in Lagos State possesses a political résumé comparable to that of Hon. Owokoniran. He said Owokoniran has served as a member of the House of Representatives, was a Director-General of campaign to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his governorship contest in Lagos State, and later served as a Commissioner in Lagos State between 2003 and 2007 under the current President. He also recalled that Owokoniran served as Director-General of campaign to His Excellency Jimi Agbaje, adding that the strength of his political résumé speaks volumes about his influence and credibility in Lagos politics.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Rahman Owokoniran on this well-deserved appointment,” Chief Ologbon said. “The national leadership of our party has demonstrated wisdom by selecting a leader of his calibre, a man with deep political insight, a unifying vision, and an unwavering commitment to democratic values.”
Chief Ologbon further praised the ADC national leadership for its foresight, stressing that Owokoniran’s experience and capacity make him uniquely qualified to steer the party’s affairs in the South-West. “He has what it takes to elevate the ADC to unprecedented heights, and he will be given the full and necessary support to succeed,” he assured.
Reaffirming his loyalty, Chief Ologbon pledged total commitment to the party and the new South-West chairman. “I will do everything within my capacity to ensure that the ADC not only thrives in Lagos but takes firm control of the South-West,” he said.
He also announced plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation, promising to rally millions of followers across Lagos and the South-West in support of the party’s vision for inclusive governance and people-centred leadership.
“We are ready to work hand-in-hand with Chairman Owokoniran and the national leadership to build a stronger, more formidable ADC that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of the people,” Chief Ologbon concluded.
The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ADC positioning itself as a credible alternative in the South-West’s evolving political landscape.
