GRAND PRESS CONFERENCE BY LAGOS DIASPORA FOR HAMZAT 2027

Presented Before the International Media Held in London, United Kingdom

Monday, 17th May 2027

Distinguished members of the press, respected leaders of the Nigerian community in the diaspora, fellow Lagosians, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ladies and gentlemen.

Good evening.

Today marks a significant moment in the democratic and political journey of Lagos State as we gather here in London under the platform of LAGOS DIASPORA FOR HAMZAT 2027 to publicly declare our unwavering support, endorsement, and total commitment towards the emergence of Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat as the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the forthcoming party primaries scheduled to hold on Thursday, 21st May 2027 in Lagos State.

We are gathered here not merely for political ceremony, but for a historic responsibility — a responsibility to support competence, continuity, loyalty, capacity, vision, and progressive governance in Lagos State.

As proud Lagosians living across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and other parts of the world, we remain emotionally, economically, and politically connected to Lagos State. No matter the distance, Lagos remains our home, our pride, and the heartbeat of our collective aspirations.

Today, we proudly announce that the entire diaspora structure under LAGOS DIASPORA FOR HAMZAT 2027 is fully prepared to mobilize massive political, strategic, intellectual, media, grassroots, and diplomatic support across global diaspora networks for the candidacy of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Our endorsement is not built on emotions or political convenience. It is built on verifiable competence, proven leadership, tested loyalty, intellectual depth, administrative experience, and an undeniable commitment to the growth and transformation of Lagos State.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The great Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu, once said:

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it.

Today, we rise to publicly express our support for the gubernatorial aspiration of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for Lagos State in 2027. Leadership is not merely about occupying office. Leadership is about vision, competence, continuity, integrity, and the ability to understand both the struggles and aspirations of the people. Over the years, Dr. Hamzat has demonstrated these qualities consistently through service, humility, and dedication to the development of Lagos State.

As Deputy Governor, he has shown himself to be a calm, intelligent, and solutions-driven administrator. He understands governance, infrastructure, education, technology, transportation, and the economic realities of modern urban development. Importantly, he understands Lagos.

Lagos is not just another state in Nigeria. Lagos is the economic heartbeat of our nation and one of Africa’s most strategic cities. Governing Lagos requires experience, intellect, emotional intelligence, and continuity of progressive governance. Dr. Hamzat represents these qualities.

From here in the diaspora, we closely observe governance back home often compare systems with study of how global cities operate. We understand the importance of smart governance, digital transformation, sustainable infrastructure, youth empowerment, and transparent administration.

We believe Lagos deserves leadership that can bridge local realities with global standards.

Dr. Hamzat possesses that capacity.

As Lagosians abroad, many of us continue to invest in Lagos through businesses, remittances, education, property development, and community support. We want a Lagos that is safer, smarter, more inclusive, and economically stronger for future generations.

We want a Lagos where:

young people can thrive through innovation and enterprise,

Transportation systems continue to improve,

Education receives greater modernization,

Public institutions become more efficient,

and governance remains people-focused.

This is why many of us believe that Dr. Obafemi Hamzat is well positioned to lead Lagos into its next phase of growth and stability.

Our support is not based on sentiment alone. It is based on competence, experience, continuity, and proven service. Politics should not only be about noise or popularity. It should be about capacity and results. Lagos cannot afford experimentation. Lagos requires steady hands and strategic minds.

To all Lagosians at home and abroad, we encourage us to participate constructively in the democratic process. Let us support leaders who demonstrate preparedness, intellect, accessibility, and commitment to public service. As diaspora citizens, our voices matter. Our engagement matters. Our contributions matter.

Let us unite behind a vision of progress, development, and responsible leadership for Lagos State. We therefore proudly lend our voice and support to the aspiration of Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for Governor of Lagos State in 2027.

May Lagos continue to prosper.

May Nigeria continue to rise.

Thank you very much.

God bless Lagos State.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
