…As GAC Leadership Meets Tinubu

…Faleke Directs Supporters to Back Deputy Governor

Supporters of former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and current Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat are both asserting claims of endorsement following a meeting between the leadership of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Although details surrounding the GAC meeting with the President remain unclear, both Ambode’s and Hamzat’s camps have been celebrating what they perceive as endorsements.

The GAC delegation, led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi, included Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, in a Facebook post, Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, directed his supporters to back Hamzat’s candidacy.

He said: “Good evening all. As we prepare for Party primaries next month, I urge all our supporters in Ikeja Federal Constituency and Lagos State to support Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the next Governor of Lagos State from 2027-2035 IJN. Amen!”

Ambode and Hamzat are the two leading aspirants vying for the APC governorship ticket as the country gears up for next year’s general elections.

Ambode served as Governor from 2015 to 2019 but was denied a second term when the APC leadership chose the current Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who will complete his second term next year.

Hamzat is currently in his second term as Deputy Governor.
